In the shootout each team had three attempts and the Greeks won 3-1. Eggens was the scorer for the Canadians, the only junior team at the tournament which also featured players from the senior national teams from Hungary, Greece and the Netherlands. "We played much better but it's tough to lose a game like that," said Alison Davis of Ottawa, the Canadian team's assistant coach. "It was our first tournament together and we were impressed this week with how the players provided a 100 percent effort in each game. It's what we wanted."
The tournament and the training camp which follows here next week are the first steps in preparation for the 2007 world junior championships. There'll also be a three-day training camp in Montreal over the holidays and another five-day gathering next month in Ottawa. The next tournament for the Canadian juniors is next March in France.
